Pears
We don’t know what you were expectin’ these pears got pectin!
With over 100 different varieties of pears grown around the world these sweet treats are enjoyed in a number of different ways such as fresh off the tree, in a salad, or baked into something tasty, but aside from their delightful taste, pears are rich in hard to get nutrients such as essential antioxidants, fiber and plant compounds.
Pears offer a hearty amount of fiber called pectin, which is ideal for stomach (gut) and heart health and offer 20 percent of our daily recommended fiber value. Pectin is a naturally occurring starch found in fruits and vegetables and is a great source of natural fiber. Pectin also has potential for promoting healthy body weight because fiber is filling and the vast majority of high fiber foods are low in calories.
